STORY
Based in New Zealand, currently living in Auckland, Burkee is an artist and realist. Of Fijian decent and heritage, her strong connection with the South Pacific Islands, the people, the land and ocean hold great significance in her life and greatly influence her art and storytelling.
Proud of her indigenous DNA, Jacquie creates original art that hold memories and moments of life she has experienced holidaying and living in the islands. These imaginings are important to her and her way of honouring her bloodline that keeps her connected to her ancestors, heart and home.
Growing up as a kiwi kid of the 70’s, living on a Kiwifruit orchard, Jacquie was lucky enough to live close to the ocean where experiencing the true taste of what New Zealand has to offer was at her doorstep. Holidaying at the beach, camping kiwi style, actively surfing, hunting local waterways and gathering coastal shellfish all played a big part in her life. It’s these nostalgia moments and childhood memories Jacquie pulls her inspiration from.
Today, still fortunate to still live close to the water in an urban setting, she makes the most of her surroundings balancing her life with regular recreation time rituals actively playing in the ocean, exploring local walkways and waterways, hunting, gathering and connecting with the boundless beauty of nature. Jacquie calls these rituals her daily medicine.
Jacquie’s body of work encompasses a lifetime of experiences and creative knowledge that shares Her Story. Two cultures entwined. Life inspired by nature. Art immersed with realism. Creative imaginings and visual storytelling. Conscious art with good intentions. Purposeful and meaningful art for the greater good.

BURKEE
With a passion for the details in life, Burkee steers towards realism, both in art and life. Her love for art began when she was old enough to hold a crayon where doodling anything colourful became a daily thing. Although she studied art at secondary school and has never taken a painting class. Painting techniques, styles and medium explorations are learnt through trial and error. YouTube has been a godsend and up until 2020, like a lot of other emerging artists around the world, the pandemic has been the push needed to become more self-contained and painting became more than just a hobby and ongoing thoughts.
Burkee’s eye and attention to details and composition, both in mastery of craft and creative processes is dominant throughout her art and imagery. Creating, painting, connecting with nature and the ocean as a means of wellness, capturing moments on the fly with a handheld device is the passageway to Burkee’s happy place. The hope is that her art, love for life and awareness of nature - will inspire others.
Originally trained as a graphic designer, Burkee’s career of 30 years has been the creative industries as a concept visual artist and designer for branding, FMGC and hospitality, a self-employed creative and creative entrepreneur. Every inch of technology experience and knowledge is self learnt which has gifted her with skills and freedom to confidently create, engineer and build her own innovative and sustainable online art business that can support livelihood in an uncertain world.
CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
Whenever possible, Burkee tries to use environmentally favoured materials for original paintings and artwork. Using recycled canvases and natural materials that speak Earth elements and protecting nature is all part of the bigger Burkee picture.
This conscious decision she feels adds a new dimension to her working giving her original paintings their own iunique story. It’s also her way to make a tiny difference in the world with the hope to inspire other artists to embrace environmental responsibilities by following suit and think more wholesomely about their art practice.

Burkee is passionate about a lot of things. Humanity. Helping to protect the planet. Bringing awareness to the boundless beauty of nature and the ocean. Showcasing endangered species, inspiring others to follow a mindful path and being conscious of universal fundamentals are all part of Burkee’s ethos and bigger picture.
Enhancing Human nature for the greater good, embracing diversity and promoting change is also part of Burkee’s grand master plan. Her vision is to create art and visual storytelling full of purpose that will touch hearts and stir value systems. Burkee wants her creativity to open up Human minds to a new way of thinking, by taking an old consciousness and awakening a new consciousness.
